Our beautiful, funny, sweet, and loving mom, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully the evening of July 18, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Ammon, Idaho, surrounded by her son, Todd, daughter-in-law, Judy, daughter, Sue, and many of Betty's grandchildren. Betty Jeane Rasmussen Ritter was born January 5, 1926, on a cold winter day in Hunter (Granger), Utah, the daughter of Martin and Ida Elizabeth Hayden Rasmussen. Betty was the fifteenth and youngest living child in a family of sixteen children. Born during the depression and growing up on a farm taught Betty what hard work was, which was one of the reasons she was a successful businesswoman throughout her life. On June 21, 1959, she married Phillip Jay Ritter in Salt Lake City, Utah. Two years later they welcomed their son, Phillip Todd, into their family, and two years after that added a daughter, Sue Ann. Along with their two children, Phil and Betty were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple July 8, 1974. On November 1, 1975, Betty and Phil purchased RANCH Mobile Homes in Idaho Falls, which consisted of a twelve-foot wide trailer for an office and an old beat-up truck to pull trailers with. They also purchased a parcel of land in Shelley, Idaho, which became known as Ritter Trailer Park. With lots of hard work and long hours they made them both into successful businesses. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as secretary in several Relief Society presidencies of the Idaho Falls 21st Ward. She enjoyed her family, fishing, spending time at their cabin on Palisades Lake, and taking long rides with her friends and grandchildren. Phil passed away December 17, 1992. Betty is survived by her children, Phillip Todd (Judy) Ritter and Sue Ann Madsen, both of Ammon. They have eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla (Chris) Saul, Jesse and Jacob Ritter; Jonathan, Jordan, Michael (Sherry) and Nathan Park; and Quinton (Aleesa), Austin (Tobie) and Justin Madsen, and several great grandchildren. Her sister, Zola Harmon of West Valley City, UT, is her only surviving sibling. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Phil, her siblings, Leland, Wayne, Claude, Ralph, Ira, Fern, Lurie, Alice, Mildred, Lowell and Verneta "Vee," as well as a set of twin girls named Ida Elizabeth and Irene Eleanor, and the sixteenth child, another baby girl named Barbara Ann, all three of whom passed away as infants. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Barry Treasure officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
