Betty Jean Mason, 71, of Idaho Falls, our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 4, 2017, at her home.
Betty Jean was born May 25, 1946, to Herb and Margaret Bolland in Squirrel, Idaho, and attended school in Ashton.
Throughout her life she had many roles. Her most cherished role being that of counselor, teacher, trainer, leader, provider, life coach and champion; better known simply as "Mom."
She is well known for her outstanding abilities as a shop keeper, rancher, wedding planner, caterer, designer, seamstress, midwife, baker, and interior decorator. There wasn't anything she could not accomplish. She was especially blessed with the gift of hostess. All who entered her home were made to feel welcome beyond compare.
Betty Jean also had many treasured hobbies, most noteworthy are as: wine connoisseur, thrift store and yard sale enthusiast, traveler, adventurer, collector, and artist.
She was a member of two local ladies' pinochle clubs, Christian Women's Club, Women's Aglow and her cherished YaYa Sisterhood group (established by Betty Jean herself).
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Mason of Idaho Falls; son, Scott (Kelly) Mason; daughter, Lexie Mason (Tom Carey); son, Brandon (Emily) Mason; son, Justin (Apryl) Mason; daughter, Mitzie (George) Johnson; daughter, Nasha Olenic; son, Brody Mason; son, Chantry (Nicolette) Mason; stepson, Dusty (Cindy) Mason; stepdaughter, Shelli (Craig) Stoddard; stepdaughter, Alaina (Travis) Sharp; sister, Trenna Bolland; 39 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a multitude of other children who came to know her as grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leroy Bolland, sister, Nadine Fredericksen, son-in-law, Chris Olenic, grandson, Robert Cole Mason, and great grandson, Gabriel Mele.
Her friendships were lifelong and her love knew no bounds. By her faith, her soul lives on, and her spirit will live forever in the lives of those that were fortunate to be touched by her life.
An open house celebration of Betty Jean's life will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue.
The family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice for their professional skills and loving hearts as well as the many family members and friends who helped in her last days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Betty Jean's name to any of the following charities in Idaho Falls: St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, Idaho Youth Ranch, or the Idaho Food Bank.
