BETTY A. MacDONALD IDAHO FALLS, ID. - Betty Aileen Smith MacDonald, 77, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Idaho Falls and Pocatello, died June 16, 2003, at the Life Care Center in Plano. She was born August 21, 1925, at Pocatello, Idaho, to Frank Harold Smith and Bertha Augusta Krueger Smith. She grew up in Pocatello and attended Washington Elementary, Franklin Junior High School, and Pocatello High School. She then attended the University of Idaho Southern Branch (now Idaho State University), Western College Law School in California, and the University of Idaho at Moscow. She lived in Pocatello until she was 26, when she moved to Kellogg for four years, California for three years, and then settled in Idaho Falls. She married James Leonard and they were later divorced. She married Gilbert MacDonald and they were later divorced. In her early years she worked as an Aircraft Mechanic at the Pocatello Air Depot and as a Service Representative for Mountain States Telephone Company in Pocatello. She also worked as Office Manager at AAA Automobile Association in Idaho Falls, as a Legal Secretary at the AEC, and retired as a Tax Assistant for the Idaho State Tax Commission. She moved to Plano, Texas two years ago to be near her son, Craig and his family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to fly and received her private license in 1951. She loved golf, camping, fishing, movies, acting, photography, cooking, sports, especially watching foot ball, music, opera, traveling, playing in High School Band. Surviving are: Son: Craig Eugene MacDonald, Dallas, TX Grandson: Jared Andrew MacDonald, Dallas, TX Sister: Ethel Eunice (LeRoy] Rasmussen, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: JoAnn Curtis, Glendale, CA She was preceded in death by a son, “T. B.” Smith Leonard, her parents, and a brother, Herbert Worrell Smith. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at Wood Chapel of the Pines (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
