She was born June 28, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Betty was the ninth child (sixth daughter) of Arthur William (A.W.) and Louella Keller Schwieder. She grew up in Iona, where she lived for 23 years. She married Valentine Dick Krieger January 30, 1943, in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 22, 1977. Betty and her husband farmed in Shelley for two years, then in Osgood for 18 years, and then they purchased their own farm in Grant, Idaho, where they lived for 21 years. After her husband passed away, she, her son, Larry, and daughter, Valerie, moved to Idaho Falls, where they have since resided. They were blessed with five children, Larry, Mike, Valerie, Norma and John. They enjoyed working on the farms together, camping, fishing, traveling and family reunions. Her family was her most treasured asset. Betty had a love for cooking, you could always count on something good to eat whenever you visited her home. She served as PTA secretary for two years and was employed by School District 25 as a cook, arts and crafts teacher, and 4H leader. She also enjoyed reading, crafts, quilting, and knitting. She worked at Fresh Pak and Grant Produce and in the fall harvest she drove the potato combine and cooked for the farm crews. She was employed by Weight Watchers for four years, working as a clerk with her sister, Rosa. After that she went back to the School District, working as a kitchen manager at the St. Leon School. Betty had two favorites, the color blue and spaghetti, they called her spaghetti Betty. Grandma had a sense of humor – she was always cracking jokes and she was known for her beautiful smile. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women on both the ward and stake levels. She had a great testimony of her Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. She was well known for her compassionate service and love. Survivors include her five children, Larry Krieger of Idaho Falls, Mike (Gwynne) Krieger of Gonzales, LA, Valerie Krieger of Idaho Falls, Norma (Guy) Karafa of Buckeye, AZ, John (Melissa) Krieger of Iona, ID; eight grandchildren, Tracy (David) Ryan, Kevin (Nikki) Krieger, Blair (Mindy) Karafa, Tara (Alonzo) Maestas, Trent Krieger, Kristina Krieger, Tyler Krieger, Kyndra Krieger; eight great grandchildren, Kaci and Christopher Ryan, Harli and Alexandra Krieger, Jaxon Scowden, Jordan and Dillon Karafa, and Makiah Krieger; three brothers, Phil Schwieder and Harold Schwieder, both of Iona, ID; Ruben Schwieder of Longview, WA; two sisters, Rosa Knowles of Iona, and Anna Lamb of Cedar City, UT.
