Betty Dixon

Betty Iola Dixon, 71, of Shelley, passed away September 24, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born September 18, 1945, in Redondo Beach, California, to Joseph Carl Hurd and Ester Giesse Hurd. She grew up and attended schools in Redondo Beach.

She married William Roy Mason and they were later divorced. On October 24, 1965, she married Ronald Lee Dixon in Elizabeth City, New Jersey. To this union were born two children, Alva and Robert. Betty and Ronald made their home in Shelley, Idaho, where Betty worked as a Therapy Technician for the developmentally delayed community. She also was a Special Olympics Area Coordinator.

Betty was a member of the Journey Church in Shelley and was a church pianist and member of the "Worship Team." She also enjoyed horses.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Dixon of Shelley, ID; daughter, Alva (Richard) Ottley of Shelley, ID; son, Robert (Melissa) Dixon of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, James (Nobu) Hurd of Wah Pah Hu, HI; brother, Fred (Jaunita) Hurd of Reno, NV; brother, David Hurd of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Patricia Bruening of CA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Phyliss Muscato and Lois Boice.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Journey Church (505 N. Park) in Shelley.
