Betty Lou Daley Neal, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 25, 2025, two weeks after her 100th birthday, and was so happy so many people came to share in this event.
Betty was born July 11, 1925, in Bynum, Montana, to Carl Daley and Benora Vigen Daley. She was the 8th child of 10 children. Her family later moved to Kalispell where she grew up and graduated from high school. Betty was the last surviving member of her family.
She met her best friend and love of her life, John William Neal, and they were married May 29, 1954. Betty and John raised three sons, who were also the greatest joys of her life.
Betty was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. She loved the many friends she had there, among which were the “Stichers,” quilting hundreds of quilts to give away. She was a talented seamstress, cook, and she loved gardening and canning vegetables. Her dill pickles are what she was known for. She also loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, and anything to keep her mind active. Betty had an amazing memory and also loved green apples and salt! She enjoyed the company of her family, and probably her all time favorite thing to do was spending time and making memories with all of her grandchildren.
Betty was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but her family are grateful she is with God, her family, and friends. She lived an exemplary life in the kindness she showed and her generosity and willingness to help others, a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
Her family would like to thank her hospice nurse and Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their kind support and care during her last days.
Betty is survived by her three sons, John (Echo) Neal, II of Heber City, UT, Bob (Leann) Neal of Idaho Falls, ID, Dan (Karen) Neal of Bellevue, WA; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Neal; parents, Carl and Benora Daley; grandson, Robert John Neal; brothers, LaVane Daley, Garland Daley, Jim Daley, Carl Daley, Howard Daley; and sister, Opal Newell.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 W. Sunnyside Road, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Augusta, Montana, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, John.
