Betty Gay Morgan Byington, 91, of Ririe, passed away May 12, 2017, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Betty was born October 7, 1925, in Perry, Idaho, to Delbert Morgan and Jessie Bush Morgan. She grew up and attended schools in Perry and Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School. Betty Gay Morgan married Keith Paul Byington on July 1, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union were born eight children, Cheryl, Regena, Jerry, Brad, Alysia, Angela, Glade and Dorothy. Keith and Betty made their home in Ririe, Idaho. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She diligently served in Relief Society, Young Women, Primary and Family History. Betty helped new mothers with their babies, did seasonal work, and gave many hours to the care and service of others. She loved to do handwork, quilt making and gardening. Betty loved playing games, going on picnics and engaging in outdoor activities with her family. She enjoyed going on long walks with her sister, Fay, and beloved friends. Our mother had a deep love for Heavenly Father and all his creations. Betty is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Park of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Regena (Jim) McEwen of Shelley, ID; son, Jerry (Ilene) Byington of Shelley, ID; son, Brad (Teresa) Byington of Henderson, NV; daughter, Alysia (David) Egan of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Angela (Steve) Croft of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Glade (Lori) Byington of Rigby, ID; daughter, Dorothy (Ken) Zaugg of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Fay Gneiting of Ammon, ID; 38 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Paul Byington, her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Ammon LDS 26th Ward building, 1100 South Tiebreaker, with Bishop Nate Hunsaker officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
