BETTE STATEN Click here to view a video of Bette's life IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bette Ruth Rapp Staten, 82, died March 11, 2008, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center of causes incident to age. Bette was born February 18, 1926, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to LeRoy Arthur Rapp and Vada Heiner Durrant Rapp. She attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. On April 2, 1943, she married Leland Stacy Staten in Pocatello, Idaho. Together they had three children, Vada, Jeanna, and Richard. Bette worked as a cosmetologist, Cosmetology Instructor, and as a State Board Examiner. Bette was a past president of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary. She was a member of the Island Park Historical Society and the Fugowee Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed family outdoor activities, crocheting, and entertaining family and friends. Bette and Leland loved to travel and especially enjoyed their timeshare in Mazatlan. They took trips to Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, and Alaska, and loved the “loop” they took around the country through Florida and Canada. Survivors include: Husband: Leland S. Staten of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Vada M. Roberts of Shelley, ID Daughter: B. Jeanna Staten of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Richard L. (Mary Lou) Staten of Shelley, ID Brother: Marshall D. Rapp of Lincoln, ID Brother: Lamarr A. Rapp of Post Falls, ID Sister: Nelda J. Hart of Snohomish, WA 8 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Bonnie M. Ball, and a grandson, Shawn Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the heart program at LDS Hospital, 8th Avenue and C Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84143. ------------------------------------ Condolences Received Online: Kay Ridley kayridley@yahoo.com Lee and family, So sorry to hear of your loss.
