Bette Jean Linderman, 88, of Jackson, Wyoming, passed away November 26, 2017, at The Gardens of Rigby. She was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice. Bette was born to Lewis Griffith Gill and Helen Taylor Gill, following the stillbirth of her twin sisters, Erma and Emma. Prior to Bette’s birth, her parents moved to Jackson, Wyoming. Her father became the owner of the Log Cabin Bar in Jackson and her mother was a basketball player when she wasn’t taking care of the other two children, Ralph Gill and Sharon Gill. Her father had grown up in Brookfield, Missouri, and ran away from home. When she turned six, she discovered she had a grandmother. Her grandmother rode the train to Victor, Idaho, where she met with her family and would drive back to Jackson. Due to the fact that there were not any accredited schools in Jackson, her parents sent her to Brookfield, Missouri, to live with her grandmother. As she aged, she met a young farmer from the Teton Basin area. His name was Shayne Linderman. Shayne’s mother, Kate Linderman, said that she picked Bette just for him. However, Bette’s father was not very keen on the idea. Therefore, he sent her to live with his good friend, Wallace Beery, who was a silent film star back in the day. Mr. Beery had a daughter that Bette befriended and they spent a lot of time together. However, Shayne continually drove to California to bring her back home. Eventually, they were married in November of 1945. Shayne moved Bette back to Idaho to the farm where the Linderman’s lived. Kate did her best to teach her how to cook and Dan taught her how to be kind. In 1949, a son was born to this union, Shayne Daniel Linderman, a.k.a. Pete. In 1950, Cathy Linderman, the "Pinhead," as dubbed by her older brother, was born. Bette is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Bruce Foster) Linderman of Idaho Falls, ID and sister, Sharon Marie Gill of Jackson, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shayne T. Linderman; son, Shayne "Pete" D. Linderman; twin sisters, Erma and Emma; and brother, Ralph Lewis Gill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, with Mike Bott officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery.
