Our dear friend Margaret Elizabeth “Bette” Pymm Doyle returned to her Father in Heaven on December 22, 2011. Born October 14, 1924 in Spokane, WA at home, she was the first of two children to Margaret Alice McLeod Pymm and George A. Pymm. She became “Bette” from the beginning, because Margaret Elizabeth was too big a name for such a small baby. Bette attended Jefferson Elementary School and Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA. She was a Campfire-Girl and attended camp on Lake Coeur d’Alene each summer. She graduated from high-school in 1943. Family played a large role in Bette’s upbringing. Bette’s parents never left the girls home alone. Sunday drives were a big event in the Pymm family. Every week they loaded up the car with a picnic lunch and headed out for some fun. They were a small but happy family. They moved to Seattle when her father went into the service and Bette got a job working for the Navy. The family resided there until George’s discharge and they all returned to Spokane. After moving back to Spokane, Bette met Ray Edwin Doyle in 1946. Eddie proposed to Bette on Christmas Eve 1949 and they were married on July 1, 1950. Bette and Eddie moved throughout the Pacific Northwest before settling in San Diego, California. It was in San Diego that Bette developed her love for the Padres and the Chargers. If Bette is in heaven, she is going to help both teams win. In 1986, Bette and Eddie came to Irwin, Idaho and eventually moved to Idaho Falls. This is where they would both spend the rest of their lives. After Eddie’s death in 1996, Bette remained in Idaho Falls where she kept busy working and upon eventual retirement, volunteering. On April 11, 2009, Bette joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A year later, Bette went through the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and was sealed to Ray Edwin Doyle for all time and eternity. The last years of Bette’s life were rich with faith, friends, and family. Bette is survived by her sister Fran (Al) Oliver; niece Betsy Oliver of Spokane, WA; and nephew Mike Oliver of Lucerne Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Edwin Doyle and her French poodle, Chou-Chou. Funeral services for Bette will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Idaho Falls LDS Crestwood Ward (1925 East 49th South). The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
