Bethene Ames

Ida Bethene Smith Ames, 81, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away November 4, 2012, at her home of natural causes. Bethene was born February 10, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Abraham Smith and Lovina Shurtliff Smith. She grew up in a large family of 10 children. They lived in the Idaho Falls area where she graduated from Ammon High School. On July 6, 1952, she married Aldred F Ames in Idaho Falls. During the course of their marriage they lived in Idaho, Nevada, California and Arizona. They were married for seventeen years and had four children. They were her greatest joy and she also considered them her greatest accomplishment . In 1970, she moved back to Idaho where she lived for the remainder of her life, working in Rexburg as a floral designer for thirty years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed her visiting teachers and was grateful for their friendship and watchful care. She enjoyed painting, fresh flowers, musicals and cultural events. Her greatest joy was found in family and she took great pleasure in their visits and vacations together. She was especially loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and treasured time spent with them. Bethene is survived by Son, Karl (Cheryl) Ames of Boise, ID, Son, Eric (Terri) Ames of Meridian, ID, Son, Troy (Toni) Ames of Laurel, MD, Daughter, Teresa (Ron) McCoy of Meridian, ID, Brother, Max Smith of Castro Valley, CA, Brother, C. Jack Smith of Idaho Falls, ID, Brother, Glen Smith of Ammon, ID, Sister, Veda Heath of Idaho Falls, ID, Sister, Geraldine Guymon of Ammon, ID 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clyde Smith, George Smith, and Leland Smith, and a sister, Eva Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
