Elizabeth Stevens Jensen, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away of natural causes Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
Elizabeth was born April 27, 1917, in Canyon Creek, Idaho, to Joseph Franklin Stevens and Martha Robena McKinlay Stevens. She grew up and attended schools in Canyon Creek, Rexburg and Sugar City and graduated from Madison High School. She also attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.
On April 24, 1936, she married Lester Jensen in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Elizabeth and Lester made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Elizabeth was a homemaker and raised their six children. Lester passed away in June 1981.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held multiple church callings in the Primary, Relief Society, and Spanish record extraction. She enjoyed crochet, baking candy and cookies for her grandkids, and family genealogy work.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Dee (Anne) Jensen of Mesa, AZ; son, Brent (Linda) Jensen of Ogden, UT; daughter, Marjean (David) Secl of LaGrande, OR; daughter, Renee (Douglas) Stone of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Lynn Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; son-in-law Loren Wells of Ajo, AZ; 24 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Jensen; her daughter, Sharon Ann Wells; two brothers, Franklin M. Stevens and Joseph Wayne Stevens; five sisters, Rula Hinckley, Wanda Brower Knight, Helen McDonald, Winifred Rowe and Maxine Blood; and two grandsons, Randall Dee Jensen and Von Ray Wells.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Joshua Hawkes officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
