Bertha Evelyn Hansen, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 26, 2015, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Bertha was born November 27, 1921, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Erhard Frederick Randolph and Una Ellen Randolph. She grew up and attended schools in South Dakota.
On January 17, 1942, she married DeVere Earl Hansen in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together, they had eight children: John (Delight) Hansen of New Mexico; Raymond (Diane) Hansen of Nevada; Albert Hansen of Utah; William (Irene) Hansen of Utah; Jane (Jim) Johnson of Texas; Joyce Yeiter of Idaho; Joan (Kevin) Hanson of Utah; and Fred Hansen of Alaska.
Bertha and DeVere made their home in Idaho Falls, where Bertha worked very hard supplementing the family income with many jobs, including, child care, house cleaning, and working in potato houses. Bertha taught her children the value of hard work and the importance of family and honesty.
Bertha’s favorite memories always included her family, where she especially enjoyed playing games, camping, and anything that took place outdoors. Bertha and DeVere enjoyed 18 years together after they retired. They spent most winters in Arizona, where they made many wonderful friends and memories.
Bertha’s Christian faith always allowed her to see the blessings in all of life’s circumstances.
Bertha is survived by her eight children, twenty grandchildren, and thirty four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, DeVere; two grandchildren; and son-in-law, Roscoe David Yeiter.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery.
