BERNITA CAMPBELL
MESA, ARIZONA -- Bernita Gotch Campbell, 85, passed away
on May 3, 2004, in Mesa, Arizona. Bernita was born November 7, 1918 in
Fort Hall, Idaho to Adolph and Eva Cora Gotch. She attended school in
the Jameston-Shelley area and graduated from Shelley High School.
She is survived by three sons, Lewis Elmer (Patricia)
Campbell, Wade Allen (Betty Jean) Campbell, Steven K. Campbell, 11 grandchildren,
20 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one sister Jeness
Balmforth of American Fork, Utah and three brothers, Noel Gotch, Neldon
Gotch and Jeryl Gotch all of Shelley, Idaho. Her husband, Marley A. Campbell,
two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.
She married Marley Allen Campbell on November 4, 1938,
in Nampa, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in March, 1944, in the
Logan Utah LDS Temple. Marley died May 2, 2003. For 65 years, she worked
along side her husband in all of his many business ventures as a partner,
confidant, councilor, secretary and treasurer.
Bernita enjoyed handiwork and was an excellent seamstress.
Some of her many crafts and hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint,
and knitting. Of particular note, she received several blue ribbons at
the Eastern Idaho State Fair for her hand crocheted afghans. She taught
these skills lovingly to her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. Later
in her life, she developed a special interest in collecting porcelain
dolls.
She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister
and enjoyed traveling extensively with the family throughout the United
states and abroad. Family was always her focus as she planned her schedule
around attending important family events including births, deaths, baptisms,
graduations and marriages , family reunions or simply getting together
for fun. In the family are many fond memories of getting together at the
Cabin in Island Park, and her winter home in Mesa, Arizona. She appreciated
the people around her as well as the beauties of the earth. She was especially
fond of the citrus grove and cacti in Mesa, and her lilies, lilacs and
roses in her yard located in Idaho Falls.
For all her life, she was an active member of the church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was called to many positions
including teacher, counselor, Ward Primary President, Relief Society President
Stake Relief Society President and Regional Welfare Supervisor. She was
widely known and highly respected for her church service during her adult
life.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the
Garfield LDS 1st Ward (258 West 1st North), with Bishop Brent Stout officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, May 7, 2004, from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon) and for one hour prior to
the services at the church.
Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery under the direction
of Wood East Side Chapel.
