BERNICE BONNELL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bernice Viola Bonnell, 87, passed away, November 12, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
She was born December 12, 1920, in Ammon, Idaho, to William H. Matteson and Lillie May Sams Matteson. She grew up in the Mud Lake area and attended Roberts High School.
She married Melbourne J. Hawker and they were later divorced. Bernice married Richard Vern Bonnell in July of 1946. They made their home in Idaho Falls for 25 years and were later divorced. She married Phillip Wilkenson and they were later divorced. A loving mother and homemaker, Bernice also worked as a retail clerk, waitress and as a CNA.
Bernice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also enjoyed membership in the Eagles and Good Sam’s Club. Bernice enjoyed her flowers, music, dancing, cards, old movies, reading and ice cream. Her family was her greatest joy.
Survivors:
Son, Craig Richard Bonnell of Olympia, Washington;
Daughter, Cheryle Rae (Larry) Spencer of Idaho Falls;
Son, Kevin Dirk (Leah) Bonnell of Idaho Falls;
11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elverda May Homesher; a son, Kim Bonnell; and one grandson, Shahn Christian.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park on Tuesday.

Just a note to say what a special person Bernice was. I have known her for a number of years. Met her at my Mom's, Thelma Ashton, Christmas parties and always enjoyed her being there and we sent Christmas cards and notes back and forth since then. She will be missed.
