Bernell "Babs" "Babs Smith" Smith

Bernell Lorraine “Babs” Smith, 73, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away September 28, 2011, at her home of natural causes. She was under the care of Creekside Hospice. Babs was born October 31, 1937, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jesse Arthur Thornton and Dagmar Legore Thornton. She grew up in Council Bluffs and attended Eighth Street Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High School. She also attended Bon Lossee Beauty School in Provo, Utah. She has also lived in Pleasant Grove, Orem and Provo, Utah, Paradise, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. She was married to Richard Sharp and had Rick, Doug, and Jodi, and they later divorced. She then married Boyd Crabtree and had Bradley and Tiffany, and they later divorced. On July 6, 2002, she married Harold Lee Smith in American Fork, Utah. Babs was a wife, mother, and homemaker. They moved to Idaho Falls four years ago. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Babs loved being a homemaker, decorating, cooking, learning, traveling, and dancing. Bernell is survived by her loving husband, Harold, three sons, Richard (Polly) Crabtree of Paradise, UT, Douglas (Shauna) Crabtree of Idaho Falls, ID, and Bradley (Jenae) Crabtree of Pocatello, ID; a daughter, Tiffany (Jared) Damiano of Cumming, GA; three brothers, Roy Thornton, Ronald Thornton, and Larry Legore; five sisters, Evelyn Seitz, Peggy Stoker, Jean Blue, Deb McIntosh, and Kathy Jewett; and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, a daughter, Jodi Russell, and two sisters, Pat Crandall and Nancy Clemens. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodhaven Ward, 260 Castlerock, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
