Benjamin Edward Macha, 77, of Rigby, passed away October 7, 2011, at The Gardens of Rigby Care Center. He was under the care of Idaho Home Health & Hospice.
Ben was born November 1, 1933, in Delia, Kansas, to Richard E. Macha and Helen Martinek Macha. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University with a masters degree.
A dedicated and proud American, Ben served his country as a Major in the United States Marine Corps and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps he worked as a manager at a Savings & Loan.
He married Anita Joan McGrew. They lived in Fallbrook, California, for 20 years. Anita passed away in 1992. Ben moved to Rigby 12 years ago.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ben loved to travel in his motor home. He enjoyed “G” Gauge Trains and building clocks – he had more than 300 clocks in his home at one time.
Benjamin is survived by his daughter, Benita (Philip) Dambach of Rigby, ID; a brother, Richard Macha; two granddaughters, Shawna Edmunds and Shannon Guess; four great-granddaughters, Isabel Ann, Lore Patricia, Christina Rae, and Alyssa Irene; and a great-grandson, Ian Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anita, and a daughter, Kathryn Ann McDonell.
Military Rites will be performed at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
