BEN LANCASTER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Benjamin Dean Lancaster, 18, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 15, 2006 at his home. He was born December 1, 1987, in Modesto, California, to Gregory D. Lancaster and Kathy L. Johnson Lancaster. The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1990 and he graduated from Skyline High School in 2006, where he was involved in debate, photography, and art. He worked as a photographer for Bell Photography. He was looking forward to attending the University of Idaho in January, 2007. He enjoyed art, music, long boarding and making custom long boards, snow boarding, playing the guitar, and loved movie nights and Thai food. He especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the family cabin in Lava Hot Springs. Survivors include: Parents: Greg & Kathy Lancaster, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Alex Lancaster, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Andy Lancaster, Idaho Falls, ID Grandparents: Don & Donna Lancaster, Idaho Falls, ID Grandparents: Larry & Lou Johnson, Jonesboro, AR Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2006, at the Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, with Reverend Jonathan Mitchell of First Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will visit with friends and family Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Idaho Falls Skate Park, c/o City of Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Department, P. O. I remember a lady from our church lost her son at 18 and she would be more than happy to talk with you at any time. I remember her telling me for months after her son's death she had to cling to the promise that God was the lifter of her head, when she couldn't see past the pain of the day. I didn't know him, but I work downtown and noticed a nice gathering here today in remembrance of Ben. I was told that in lieu of flowers, it was requested that money be donated to the new Skate Park project. What a great memorial. I am the editor of Today's Playground Magazine, which years ago was SkatePark Magazine. I still run Skate Park stories at least once a year, and I would like to talk with you at some point if you don't mind about a possible article. Please don't feel rushed about this. I can do this on your time schedule, if you want to share Ben's story. I feel I am requesting this very soon. I can only imagine how you must feel. I'll leave it up to you if you would like to talk with me. I wrote a story about two and a half years ago about the efforts of a mother and her son, and the whole community, to build a skatepark in memory of her twin son who had passed. That's not to say that I think your situation is just like anyone else's. I say this so that you'll know that I am very sensitive to your feelings about this and would only write what you felt comfortable with sharing. No pressure.
