Biography

Batista Joseph Covolo, 91, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, of natural causes. Batista was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, on September 29, 1919, to Rosie Carollo and Joseph Covolo. He was the sixth of 12 children. He grew up in Glenco, Wyoming, a mining community Kemmerer. He married Doris Youngberg June 27, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with three children, two sons and a daughter, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Batista enjoyed riding and breaking horses, spending time on his ranch, and was a very good mechanic. Batista is preceded in death by his parents, Rosie and Joseph Covolo; his stepfather, Louis Covolo; five sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris; two sons, Dan (Annabeth) Covolo and Dennis (Vicki) Covolo; daughter, Leisa (Todd) Browne; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the Mountain View LDS Chapel in Mountain View, Wyoming, with a viewing at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fort Bridger Cemetery in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Arrangements are under the direction of Scott-Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, Wyoming (307-789-2860).
