Barth Tim Combe, 85, of Idaho Falls, died October 12, 2016, of natural causes at his home. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma in August.
Combe was born in Arco, Idaho, August 26, 1931. He spent his early years working on the family farm with his parents, his sister, and his three brothers.
When he was in the first grade, he developed cataracts, and he spent what should have been the second grade at the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding before surgery returned some eyesight.
He graduated from Butte High School in 1950, where he was the senior class president.
In 1964, he began an apprenticeship in sheet metal. During his 35-year career as a journeyman, he worked in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, the National Engineering Laboratory, and in San Jose, California. He worked on such historic projects as the Nautilus submarine, the WS125 nuclear-powered airplane, the Mini-Dome at ISU, numerous buildings in Silicon Valley, the Idaho Falls Public Library, and the copper roof of Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls.
Combe loved to sing. For years, he sang "lead" in The Fallsmen, a local Barber Shop chorus.
Combe married three times: Olive Ellen Paul, with whom he had his oldest son, Robert Dallen Combe (61) of Idaho Falls; Myrna Catherine Winn, with whom he had Jeffery Winn Combe (58), of Temple City, California, and Matthew Tim Combe (50) and Daniel Joe Combe (48) of Idaho Falls; and Maxine Muir Andrews.
Besides his present wife and four sons, he is survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Myrna, and all of his siblings.
Combe joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1978.
