BART METCALF Click here to view Bart's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bart Earl Metcalf, 70, of Idaho Falls, died March 10, 2010, at his home of natural causes. Bart was born May 11, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Marvin Earl Metcalf and Eva Bodily Metcalf (Pack). He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1957. He then joined the U. S. Army and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He married Loa Mae Westover December 8, 1961, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Bart spent 12 years in the military, then worked as a mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for 20 years. He lived in Blackfoot for 36 years and returned to Idaho Falls three years ago to live with his son. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bart enjoyed Idaho history. He took great delight in the special relationship he had with his grandfather, Jesse Metcalf, whom he spent the summers of his youth with on the family farm in Leslie, Idaho. Bart ran for Mayor of Blackfoot in the early 1990s. He was very proud of his three oldest grandsons, who chose to serve missions for the LDS church. Survivors include: Wife: Loa Metcalf of Blackfoot, ID Son: David (Maggie) Metcalf of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Jeff (Michelle) Metcalf of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Mike (MaryAnn) Metcalf of Mesa, AZ Daughter: Glenna (Rick) Broadfoot of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Thomas Paul (Alicen) Metcalf of Pocatello, ID Stepfather: Bob Pack, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: DeAnn (Tal) Thompson of Franklin, ID Sister: Trina (Harold) Webb of Shelley, ID Sister: Marlene (Bob) Howell, Oak City, UT Sister: Peggy (Jim) Jensen of Lakeville, MN 12 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Joseph Metcalf and Jesse Metcalf, and two sisters, Glenna Metcalf and Andrea Metcalf. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Shelley LDS Sand Creek Ward, 1101 East 1250 North, with Bishop Ray Hollist officiating. The family will visit with friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Brent Strong Bart and I graduated from high school together, and although I have not seen him through the years, in my youth he was a friend and he will be missed.
