BARBARA SHEARER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Barbara Lee Shearer, 67, of Idaho Falls, died September 15, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of respiratory complications. Barbara was born February 8, 1936, at Ucon, to Ward F. Lee and Elzina Tyler Lee. She spent her early years in Alpine, Wyoming, where she attended grade school. The family then moved to Idaho Falls, where she attended O. E. Bell Junior High School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School and played trumpet in the high school Marching Band. She met her best friend and lifelong companion, Francis Irving Shearer, in 1954, and they were married June 9, 1956, in the LDS Church at Ucon. Barbara was a homemaker and felt blessed to be the mother of three boys, Mitch (Diane) of Pocatello, Jeff (Pam) of Idaho Falls, and Lynn (Carolyn) of Idaho Falls. She is survived by her husband, Bud, two sisters, Alice (Maynard) Sommers of Escondido, California, and Colleen (Dyke) Wilkinson of Idaho Falls, and a brother, Francis (Iva) Lee of Nampa. Barbara was an astute and very loving grandmother to her ten grandchildren, who looked forward to their visits with Grandma & Grandpa in Island Park, where she could be found taking care of Bud and watching the birds that would come to visit them often throughout the year. She definitely looked forward to the change of seasons. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Idaho Falls Woodruff 2nd Ward, where she saw to many of the needs of others as the Compassionate Service Leader for several years. Barbara enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, snowmobiling, traveling, sight seeing, and gardening. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 2nd Ward, 1660 – 12th Street, with Bishop O'Dell Young officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
