Barbara Richards

Barbara Jean Eckersley Richards, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 2, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born May 25, 1932, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Francis Alonzo Eckersley and Velma Hansen Eckersley. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She was a lifelong resident of Ammon. On October 17, 1950, she married Grant Thomas Richards in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Barbara was a homemaker and mother and also worked as a clerk at Speedy Mart for 10 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Cub Scout Leader and Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and taking vacations with her family. She loved cake decorating, quilting for babies, and her family, and loved spending time with them. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Grant Richards of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Laraina (Michael) Landon of Firth, ID, son, Ralph Thomas Richards of Firth, ID, daughter, Bobbett Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Bruce (Coy) Richards of Milo, ID, son, Roy (Cindy) Richards of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Rex (Susan) Richards of Iona, ID, brother, LaMont (Sue) Eckersley of CA, sister, Delores (Wes) Hudman of Shelley, ID, sister, LaDene (Max) Lyon of Ammon, ID . 23 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wallace Alonzo Eckersley, and a sister, Jeraldene Gardner. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Ammon LDS 10th Ward, 4375 East Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Wes Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tuesday April 8, 2014 , 11 a.m. at Ammon LDS 10th Ward

The family will visit with friends Monday 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon) and Tuesday 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
