Barbara Larson

Barbara Lois Brower Larson, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 3, 2011, at her home of congestive heart failure. Barbara was born March 18, 1929, in Rigby, Idaho, to John Thomas Brower and Edna Mae Gilson Brower. In her early youth she attended schools in Rigby and, due to limited eyesight, later transferred to the State School for the Blind in Gooding, Idaho. On May 18, 1947, she married Virgil Dean Larson in Rigby, Idaho. To this union 12 children were born. Barbara and Virgil were married 36 years; Virgil passed away May 29, 1983. She was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, sister, friend, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother. Barbara was an active member of the Jehovah Witnesses for over 50 years. She was also active in services for the blind and held various positions with the local chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, and many Sisters’ Day outings. Barbara is survived by seven daughters, Patricia Burns of Rigby, ID, Virginia (Boyd Anderson) Fields of Greeley, CO, Karen Curry of Rigby, ID, Marilyn Eichler of Genesee, ID, Beverly (Don Hansen) Britton of Rigby, ID, Janine (Warren) Mortensen of Idaho Falls, ID, and Anette Larson of Idaho Falls, ID; five sons, Thomas (Marie) Larson of Idaho Falls, ID, David (Tammy) Larson of Idaho Falls, ID, Douglas Larson of Rigby, ID, Gary Larson of Idaho Falls, ID, and Craig (Lori) Larson of Richland, WA; two sisters, Mae Getsinger and Lola Brower, both of Blackfoot, ID; 33 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Helen Verderber. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls, with her son, Craig Larson, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Western Visiting Nurses for their care and support.
