Barbara Jean (Tolbert) Anderson passed away on February 21, 2026, in Silverdale, Washington. She was born on June 19, 1932 to Jerome and Hester Tolbert. She met her husband, Arvon Anderson, while attending the University of Idaho, and they married in August 1953. They settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and raised three children, Sheila Diane (John) Mullin, Michael Duane (Leigh) Anderson, and Teresa Lynne (Anthony) Moloney. Barbara and Arvon were married for 65 years when he passed in 2018, and she missed him every single day.
Barbara was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who was quiet and soft spoken. She was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls, the church where she and Arvon were married. She moved from Idaho Falls to Bremerton, Washington, in 2019. She was famous for her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, holiday goodies, Grandma’s Goulash and family-favorite biscuits. Barbara loved to travel, play card games and bingo. She loved hummingbirds, flowers, classic country music and her favorite color, teal, which she wore almost every single day.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Sheila and Teresa and their spouses; six grandchildren, John (Shannon) Mullin Jr., Jeremy (Nancy) Mullin, Rebecca (Robbie Furtado) Moloney, Courtney (Sean) Hayward, Kyle Anderson and Jared Anderson; ten great-grandchildren, Jordyn (Brandon), Kelsey, KaeLee, Caden, Ava, Harper, Matias, Rosaleen, Meadow and Opal. The youngest Great-grandchildren lovingly refer to her as G2. Barbara is also survived by her two sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly, Gloria Tolbert of Seattle, WA, and Carole Myler of Rigby, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arvon, her son, Michael, her brother, Ramon Tolbert and brother-in-law, Kay Myler.
A graveside service is planned this summer at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist, 237 North Water, in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
