Barbara Ann McKinley, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 22, 2023, at Promontory Point Rehabilitation.
Barbara was born April 9, 1934, in Bristol, Wisconsin, to Clyde Everett Jackson and Madolene Parsons Jackson. She grew up and attended schools in Bristol and Wilmont, Wisconsin.
On December 19, 1952, she married Robert Lee McKinley in Bristol, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for time and eternity. Barbara and Robert made their home in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where they raised their children, Brenda and Brent. After retirement, they relocated to Winter Haven, Florida, where they resided until moving to their current residence in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Barbara’s faith played a central role in her life, and she was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her service extended to numerous callings, and she notably served as a compassionate Relief Society President. Devoted to her beliefs, Barbara and Robert embarked on a missionary journey together, serving as a leadership couple in Mississippi. Later, they continued their service as temple workers in the Orlando, Florida Temple. She enjoyed all things musical, singing and playing the piano and the organ.
Barbara’s warmth, kindness, and genuine love for others endeared her to everyone she encountered. Her radiant spirit and caring nature left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Everyone loved Barbara and she touched many lives. She will be missed by many!
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Robert McKinley of Idaho Falls; daughter, Brenda (Gary) Gumaer of Idaho Falls; son, Brent (Kris) McKinley of Orem, UT; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Her passing marks a reunion with those who preceded her in death, including her parents, Clyde and Madolene Jackson, and her sisters, Ina and Janice.
The family wants to express their gratitude to nurse Brianne and OneSource Home Health and Hospice for providing compassionate care over the last two years.
A private burial service will take place at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho, at a later date.
