Barbara Mae Parker Forfar, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 30, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born May 12, 1928, in Toronto, Canada, to Edwin Thomas Parker and Elsie Elizabeth Cox Parker. On July 15, 1955, she married George Thompson Forfar in Toronto, Canada. To this union were born two children, Deborah and Janice. Barbara and George made their home in Los Angeles for 46 years. Barbara started working for McDonnell Douglas and was one of the very first deaf persons to work there soldering circuit breaker on an assembly line.  She eventually worked for and retired from Hughes Aircraft after many successful years. They then moved to Derby Kansas for a few years and then in 1999, George and Barbara moved to Idaho Falls. In her younger days, Barbara was an accomplished and celebrated dancer and gymnast, having appeared in the local paper many times. She also was a beauty pageant winner (Coincidently, George was one of the judges!) She enjoyed bowling, camping, shopping, antiquing, traveling, and swimming. She loved watching Dancing with the Stars, The Price is Right, animal shows, and travel shows and her little dog "Brownie". Barbara especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Barbara is survived by daughter, Debbie (Michael) Reed of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Janice (Tony) Caper of Johnstown, PA, granddaughter, Amanda (Darin) Tate of Gulf Breeze, FL, granddaughter, Brianne (Ryan) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, grandson, Taylor Myers of Phoenix, AZ, grandson, Gavin Reed of Idaho Falls, ID, granddaughter, Olivia Caper of Johnstown, PA. sister, Betty Parker Bilodeau, Ontario Canada and sister, Beverley Parker Patchet, Ontario Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Thompson Forfar; and a brother, Roy Parker. A Gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge.  At 11:45 a.m., a life sketch will be given followed by a luncheon for family members. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
