Barbara Finn

Barbara Eleanor Grant Finn, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 22, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from a lingering illness. Barbara was born April 6, 1934 in Idaho Falls, ID to Clarence Edwin Grant and Mary Lucille Longhurst Grant. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She was a Football Queen and a Rodeo Queen. Barbara started riding horses at the age of three. She enjoyed riding and later showed horses. Growing up on a farm with so many tasks and responsibilities shaped her into a person everyone loved. On August 17, 1954 she married Dono Edward Finn in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had four children. Barbara was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a primary president, stake primary president, young women’s president, visiting teacher, and a teacher in relief society. She served endlessly in the Idaho Falls Temple and loved to serve others. She was an example of kindness and her acts of charity will be remembered by many. Barbara and Dono built a cabin in Island Park and enjoyed spending time there for many years. Barbara enjoyed fishing, picnics, observing nature, and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. She loved her garden and her flowers and was a beautiful seamstress. Barbara had a special love for each one of her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, and most of all, her beloved husband. She will be greatly remembered as a loving woman of wisdom and grace, talented, giving, and beautiful mother, wife, grandma, and sister. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include: Husband: Dono Finn, Idaho Falls, ID; Son: Grant Dono (Deola)Finn, Pocatello, ID;Son: Gregg Dono (Linda) Finn, American Fork, UT; Daughter: Tami (Roger)Rowberry, Stansbury Park, UT; Brother: Richard Longhurst Grant; Sister: Helen Grant Purcell; 12 Grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter Lorrie Finn. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Wood East Side (963 South Ammon Road). The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood’s. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
