Barbara Jean Canham Wakley, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully October 29, 2022, at the home of her daughter, and surrounded by her loved ones.
Barbara was born October 25, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Milton E. Canham and Thelma Jean Richardson Canham. She grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from West High School.
On December 8, 1962, she married Darrel LaMar Wakley in Salt Lake City, Utah. Barbara and Darrel made their home in Rexburg, Idaho, where Barbara worked as a waitress at Me-N-Stans, and later retired from Hortense B. Hewitt.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Barbara and Darrel were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 6, 1971, for time and all eternity. Barbara enjoyed crafting, painting, and crocheting. She was known to make her family members personal gifts with her talents.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Karen Le Challis of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Teresa Ann (Heath) Rushton of Boise, ID; daughter, Melissa (William) Smith of Layton, UT; 9 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel LaMar Wakley; parents, Milton and Thelma Canham; daughter, Jeannie Williams; brothers, Craig Canham and David Canham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. and Monday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Utah Veterans Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah.
