“Truly, I say unto you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.” - Matthew 18:3-5
Ava Christine West passed peacefully in the arms of her parents on October 23, 2022. She was born at 8:58 p.m. on October 22, 2022, at Mountain View Hospital Idaho Falls, Idaho. Born at 39 weeks, she weighed 3 lbs. 15 oz. and was 15 ½ inches long. Ava experienced being held lovingly by her parents, kisses from her family, and being told “I love you” an uncountable number of times. Ava’s family was blessed to spend nearly 17 hours with her in life, as she resisted the effects of the chromosomal disorder of Trisomy 18.
Ava is survived by her parents Jessica and Matthew West, her sister Tinsley, three brothers Elliot, Peyton and Rylee; her grandparents Shawn and Leslie West, David Bright, and Nancy and Gene Watson; great-grandparents Joan Easton (Twin Falls, Idaho), Juanita Bright (Medford, Oregon) and Raymond Morgan (Medford, New Jersey) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Hospital for the incredible care they provided Ava and the entire family.
The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will hold private services.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ava’s honor to the Support Organization for Trisomy (SOFT), at https://trisomy.org/donations-to-soft/. Alternatively, a collection of one-piece infant pajamas (w/ zippers, please) will be taken during the gathering at Wood Funeral Home, to be donated to the Mountain View Hospital NICU.
