Audrey Mary Wheeler Byington, 80, of Ririe, passed away October 4, 2010, at her home in Ririe, Idaho, of natural causes. She was under the loving care of her family and Creekside Hospice.
Audrey was born January 17, 1930, in Lower Poplar, Idaho, to Blaine Levi Wheeler and Doris Hennekens Wheeler. She grew up in Lower Poplar and graduated from Ririe High School. She also attended Idaho State College.
Audrey met her future husband, Murry Irving Byington at Ririe High School, when he returned home from military service to complete his education. They were married May 16, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Ririe, where she was a homemaker, wife, and mother. Before her marriage Audrey worked as a secretary at Diana Hughes.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous church callings, including primary, music and Relief Society. She was also a member of the DUP and helped with Ririe Community Education. Audrey enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, music, reading, and square dancing. She loved her family and especially enjoyed the babies.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Murry, two daughters, Benita (Robert) Ryne of Las Vegas, NV and Susan (Ray) Prebble of Winnemucca, NV; three sons, Alan (Toni) Byington of Wilmington, OH, David (Erika) Byington of Idaho Falls, ID, and Byron Byington of Idaho Falls, ID; two brothers, Jay (Pat) Wheeler of Lewiston, ID and Phil (Dorothy) Wheeler of Twin Falls, ID. She has 24 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine & Doris Wheeler, and a grandson, Zachary Manwill.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, at the Ririe LDS 2nd Ward, 285 Second West, with Bishop Alan Young officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
