Arvon Ray Anderson, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 29, 2018, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington. Arvon was born January 12, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Niels Alonzo Anderson and Joy Arlene Lindsey Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Ucon High School. He also attended University of Idaho where he graduated in 1953 with his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Education. Arvon served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 18 months. On August 21, 1953, he married Barbara Jean Tolbert in Idaho Falls. Together they raised three children. Arvon worked in Reactor Operations and Planning and Budgeting for 36 years at the Idaho National Laboratory and retired in 1993. He loved gardening and was an avid fly fisherman & a talented fly tier. Arvon is survived by his loving wife of 65 years plus 1 week, Barbara J. Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sheila Diane (John) Mullin of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Teresa Lynne (Tony) Moloney of Bremerton, WA; sister, Carole Elaine (Kay) Myler of Rigby, ID; 6 grandchildren, John, Jeremy, Rebecca, Courtney, Kyle, and Jared; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Duane Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue). The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Friday from 1-1:45 p.m., both at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard following the service.
