Arvin Stott

Arvin Vernile Stott, 78, of Shelley, passed away on November 6, 2012, at The Gables of Shelley. He was born July 11, 1934, in Layton, Utah to Arvin Edward Stott and Selma Loraine Vest Stott. The family moved to Idaho where he attended schools in Rexburg and St. Anthony. Following graduation, he continued his education by attending Green River Community College. On August 4, 1953, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Private. After his discharge, he married Nancy Elliott, his high school sweetheart who was also in the military. Together they had five children and later divorced. On September 2, 1993, he married Gay Metcalf Young in Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked in heavy construction and gold mining for Red Mountain. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fiction writing, painting, and fishing. Survivors are: Daughter: Bettye Mull, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Edward Stott, Tooele, UT Son: Arvin Stott, Shoreline, WA Son: Lynn Stott, Idaho Falls, ID Son: George Stott, Boise, ID Stepchildren: Christine Owens, Petaluma, CA Dan Owens, Lynnwood, WA Cathy Boland, Vacaville, CA Carrie Hutchman, Portland, OR David Owens, Modesto, CA Debbie Wernette, Walla Walla, WA Diane Lewis, Idaho Falls, ID John Young, St. Augustine, FL Sister: Ole Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: LaVee Williams, Orem, UT Sister: Ethel Breeton, Blackfoot, ID Sister: Ella Dawn Hoopes, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Carmen Kerr, Colorado Springs, CO Brother: Robert Rhodehouse, Idaho Falls, ID He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, LaGene Schwarze and Mary Christine Knight; and 1 brother, William Rhodehouse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Presto LDS Ward in Goshen (792 North 1090 East) with Bishop Boedre Reynolds, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion David B.
