Arvin Rhoades, 83, of Bone, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 30, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Arvin was born October 6, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rosella Augusta Johnson Rhoades and Ezra Pritchard Rhoades. Arvin attended local schools through the 8th grade.
Arvin married his sweetheart, Colleen Luella Nelson, March 22,1947, in Bonneville County. They had six children. They lived in several cities including, Cobalt, Driggs, Victor, and Idaho Falls, before settling in their favorite place on their ranch in Bone, Idaho.
Arvin's work career included mining in Cobalt, Idaho, and helping construct several dams in the Northwest. He was also a hod carrier and finally started and operated Rhoades Drywall and operated it for 40 years. He raised cattle in Bone, Idaho.
Arvin’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and taking drives in the back country with his best friend and sweetheart Colleen. He also loved spending time at his ranch in Bone, Idaho. He loved his Boxer dogs, horses, Lady and Ginger, and mom's poodle, Augie.
Arvin is survived by her six children,
Daughter, Christine (John) Wold of Idaho Falls;
Son, David (Brenda) Rhoades of Idaho Falls;
Son, Dale Rhoades of Idaho Falls;
Son, Doug (Donna) Rhoades of Idaho Falls;
Son, Dennis (Sharon) Rhoades)of Idaho Falls;
Son, Dee Rhoades of Idaho Falls;
19 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great -Great Grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, August and Sharl Rhoades; two sisters, Faye Whitney and Golda Burke, all of Idaho Falls.
Arvin was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen, his parents, Ezra and Rosella Rhoades, sister, Martha Lane, brothers, Karl, Don, and Leroy Rhoades.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to a favorite charity of choice or the Humane Society.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. A viewing for friends and family will be held from 6:30 to 7;30 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday, both at Wood Funeral Home. He will be cremated and his ashes spread with Colleen's at their private memorial setting on their ranch in Bone, Idaho, at a later date.
