Artie Lee Gardner - 10/15/2001 Artie Lee Gardner - 10/15/2001 ARTIE LEE GARDNER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Artie Lee Musselman Gardner, 71, of Idaho Falls, died in her home of a lingering illness October 15, 2001. Artie Lee was born June 1, 1930, in Idaho Falls, to Albert Ernest (Bert) Musselman and Viola Rose Hemsley Musselman. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Artie Lee and her sweetheart, Mervin J. Gardner, were married May 8, 1948, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized May 12, 1948, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived briefly in Vale, Oregon and Boise, Idaho, before settling back in Idaho Falls, where they have lived ever since. Artie Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Artie Lee worked as a secretary for the City of Idaho Falls in various departments and was a bookkeeper and secretary for Musselman Equipment Company. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in Sunday School, Relief Society, and in the Young Women's program for many years. She and Mervin served a full-time mission from January 1995 to January 1996 at the Missionary Training Center near Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She helped organize many dance festivals and roadshows. Artie Lee was active in volunteer work and served many years with the Miss Idaho Falls Pageant. She was General Chairman for the Festival of Trees and on the Board of Directors of Development Workshop, where she organized the “Fun Run,” later known as “Bridge to Braves.” She was a hospital volunteer at LDS Hospital. Artie Lee was a hard working, compassionate, caring woman, full of energy, of which she gave freely to all she knew. Surviving are:Husband: Mervin Gardner, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Linda [Brad] Johnson, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Tami [Mark] Lords, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Bradley M. [Frannie] Gardner, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Toni Jill [Beth] Gardner, Costa Mesa, CABrother: Dean [Karen] Musselman, Idaho Falls, ID 13 Grandchildren & 4 Great GrandchildrenShe was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sandra Lynn. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at the Ammon LDS West Stake Center, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Richard Attebury of the Ammon LDS 6th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
