Arthur G. “Art” Ball, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 23, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from complications of lingering medical problems.
Art was born January 23, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ephriam Berry Ball and Elizabeth Mary Green Ball. Art attended school in Iona and Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He worked for Safeway Grocery Store in Idaho Falls while still in high school, becoming night manager. He joined the U. S. Army and served three years, mostly in El Paso, Texas. He was married during that time and had one son, Terry.
On March 4, 1961, he married Carol Ann Harris in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After returning from the Army, he went to work for Baldwin Food Stores, eventually managing some of their stores until they were sold. He got his real estate license in 1964 and his Broker’s License a few years later. He owned and operated United Agencies Realty until 1998. During that time he served as Vice President, President, and on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Falls Realtors Association. In 1976 he was selected as Realtor of the Year. He also served as a director for the Idaho State Realtors Association. He was manager of several Eastern Idaho Counties for the Federal Housing Administration, bringing many FHA repossessions to FHA standards.
He was a director with the Idaho Falls Civitan Club, member and director of the Gold Coaters of the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce, and director of the Idaho Falls Country Club. His favorite pastimes were pheasant hunting, fishing, floating the Box Canyon area of Island Park, skiing, golfing, and keeping a great looking yard.
Art is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol, of Idaho Falls,
a son, Terry Jacobs of Idaho Falls, ID;

brother, George (Paulette) Ball of Idaho Falls, ID;
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Chance Ball, Elmer Ball, Cecil Ball, LaVerl Ball, Alton Ball, Don Ball, and Mark Ball, and three sisters, May Holm, Martha Messick, and Ruth Moore.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Bishop Dennis Pond of the Idaho Falls LDS Taylor View Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
