Art Mauer

Art Mauer was more than just a son, husband, and father. Born in Mauston, Wisconsin, on January 28, 1954, to Robert Elmer Mauer and Dorthy Marie Seabecker Mauer, Art’s journey brought him to Idaho Falls as a young boy. The breathtaking beauty of Idaho, introduced to him by his father, Bob, kindled his enduring love for the outdoors—a passion that defined much of his life.

After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1972, Art married Brenda Gregory in Shelley, Idaho, on January 13, 1979. They were blessed with their son, Robert Mauer, whom Art cherished and proudly mentored in his love for the great outdoors. Although Art and Brenda’s paths diverged, Art later found love and companionship with Cindy Serres, enriching his life with her presence.

Art’s talent as a cabinet maker was evident in his meticulous craftsmanship. For over two decades, he honed his skills at Upper Valley Cabinet, a company co-founded by his father. His handiwork graces many homes and businesses across Southeast Idaho, a lasting testament to his precision and artistry.

Art’s zeal for hunting and fishing led him on numerous adventures across Idaho and beyond. Whether it was hunting elk and deer in the mountains or fishing for trout and steelhead in the local rivers, Art’s spirit of exploration knew no bounds. His fishing pursuits even took him to Montana, Oregon, and Washington, in search of new challenges and experiences. This fervor for the wilderness has been passed down to his son, Robby, ensuring that Art’s legacy will live on in every cast of the line and every trip into the wild.

As we gather here to celebrate Art’s life, we remember his boundless enthusiasm, his dedication to his craft, and the love he shared with those around him. Though he has left us, Art’s spirit will forever accompany Robby on his own adventures, and he will remain with us in the memories of the beautiful cabinets he crafted and the stories of the wild places he so dearly loved. Art will now be able to share his passions with Aliya in heaven and will enjoy dancing in the clouds with her.

Rest in peace, Art Mauer; your legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew you.
