Arnold Bruce Hillam, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 16, 2018, at his home. He was under the care of OneSource Home Health and Hospice and his loving family.
Arnold was born May 26, 1938, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Gordon Rodney Hillam and Evelyn Skidmore Hillam. He grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from St. Anthony High School. He later attended Ricks College where he was the student body vice president. He also attended Brigham Young University and Northwestern University where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Dental Surgery.
On May 16, 1958, he married Trenna Louise Egbert and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. To this union were born six children, Roxane, Coya, Kirt, Scott, Todd, and Lori. Arnold and Trenna made their home in Idaho Falls where Arnold owned and operated a successful dental practice.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities including Elder’s Quorum President, High Counselor and served as Bishop twice. Arnold loved spending time with his family, traveling, holidays, birthdays and family celebrations, spending time at the family cabin and serving in the church. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, visiting Yellowstone National Park, basketball, and track. Arnold was greatly involved through the years in community service and events.
We are grateful for his example of positivity, endurance, his fun-loving personality and zest for life. He was very determined in all he accomplished and all he faced. His daily singing, positive greetings, and his ever-present upbeat attitude will be missed greatly. We appreciate all of our family, friends, and health professionals who have been so supportive in his life and in the lives of his family members.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Trenna Louise Hillam of Idaho Falls, ID,
daughter, Roxane (Rob) Vandewiele of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Coya Gerber of Riverton, UT; son, Kirt (Sandra) Hillam of Millville, UT; son, Scott (Arnae) Hillam of Shelley, ID; son, Todd (Deena) Hillam of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lori (Lynn) Willden of Gilbert, AZ; sister, Donna (Doyle) Daniels of St. Anthony, ID, sister, Kaylyn (Von) Beck of Idaho Falls, ID; 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Miller; brother, Harold G Hillam; and grandson, Alex Hillam.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Idaho Falls South Stake Center, 2051 South Emerson, with Bishop Todd Hillam officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
