JEAN CHRISTENSEN KENNEWICK, WA -- Armrell Jean Christensen was reunited with her sweetheart, Wes Christensen on December 22, 2009. She was born January 1, 1922, in Melba, Idaho, to Rulon Richmond Johnson and Helen Truehart Meyers Johnson. She was the third of six daughters. "Jean," as she liked to be called, met her sweetheart and lifetime companion, Wes Christensen while working for the railroad where they both were telegraphers. They were married on November 18, 1943 and were soon blessed with four daughters. Wes and Jean spent their first thirty years together in Twin, Falls, Idaho, where Wes worked for Farmers Insurance Group and Jean worked as his office manager. In addition to her job, she also maintained the home front while Wes traveled five days a week for work. She was a wonderful mother and mentor. In 1972, Wes and Jean moved to Idaho Falls where they resided until Wes passed away in 2004. Jean then moved to Springville, Utah where she lived with her daughter Barbara and her family. Jean had many talents; her hands were never idle as she crocheted countless pairs of slippers for loved ones, in addition to being an excellent seamstress. She loved cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed many activities such as bowling, playing cards, camping, and fishing. She had a love for music and enjoyed singing, playing the organ and banjo, as well as listening to her grandchildren play the piano. She was also active in her church and had many callings. She kept an immaculate home and yard. She was a kind, gracious, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a beautiful, inspirational beacon to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She moved to the Tri-Cities Washington area in August 2009 were she resided at Callaway Gardens until her death. She is survived by her four daughters: Sharon (Arlan) Call of Richland, WA; Carol (Steven) Permann, of Idaho Falls, ID; Barbara (Craig) Miner; Springville, UT, Joyce (Brad) Scheele of Meridian, ID. She had 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and two surviving sisters, Velma Stout and Gerry Jones. Though her light will be missed, her family is grateful that she is again with the love of her life and they are comforted with the knowledge that, "To live is to go on a journey to die is to come back home." Funeral services for Jean will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be on Wednesday, December 30th at Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received onlin Blake and Jolene Reneau We are so sorry about your loss and hope that you know you are in our thoughts and prayers especially at this time of year.
