Arlis Dell Hamilton, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 21, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Arlis was born February 26, 1932, in Alabam, Arkansas, to Marion Jasper Hamilton and Elsie Pearl Jones Hamilton. He grew up and attended schools in Arizona, California, Washington, and graduated from Castleford High School in Castleford, Idaho. Arlis also attended Idaho State College in Pocatello, Idaho, now known as Idaho State University.

Arlis served in the US Army during the Korean War, earning the ranking of Corporal. While serving, he received several medals including the Korean Service Medal, the National Service Medal and the United Nation Service Medal. Arlis also was a lifetime member of the Arco Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On May 6, 1955, he married Patricia Ruth Hamilton in Pocatello, Idaho. To this union were born two sons, Steven and Roger. Arlis worked as a pipefitter. He and Patricia lived in Arco, Idaho, for 47 years. In 2014, Arlis and Patricia moved from Arco to Idaho Falls.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge #48 in Arco, and the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union #648 in Pocatello, Idaho. Arlis enjoyed bowling, golf, camping, gathering wood and traveling.

Arlis is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hamilton of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Steven Dale (Laura) Hamilton of Weiser, ID; son, Roger Craig (Lorinda)Hamilton of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, J.L. Hamilton of Houston, TX; grandson, Arlis Dale Hamilton; granddaughters, Amy May McDonald, Brandy Lynn Cuesta, Tiffanie Jones, Melissa Gray, Sheila McCall, Bambi Jones, and Dana Harling; great-grandchildren, Lacie, Alexander, Zachary, William, Koda, Lillian, Hunter, Isabel, Allusion, Jett, Tyla, Teagan, Colleen, McKenna, Matthew, and Brayden.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Jasper Hamilton; mother, Elsie Pearl Hamilton; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Victoria Smith.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Wood East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Reverend Susan E. Speir of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior. Inurnment will be in Fielding Memorial Park.

Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
