ARCHIE R. MCKAY
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Archie Robert McKay, 89, of Idaho Falls, died on September 11, 2001 at his home of natural causes.
He was born September 3, 1912, in Idaho Falls, to William Edgar McKay and Nellie Fleming McKay. He grew up and attended school in Irwin and was a life-long rancher.
He married Geneva Jacobson on October 2, 1934 and ranched with his father in Irwin and later in Grand Valley. He bought the Miller Ranch in Swan Valley, after being flooded out by the Palisade Dam and continued ranching until his retirement in 1982. He and Geneva spent their winters in Mesa, AZ and their summers in Idaho Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva; a son, Wayne (Lois) McKay of Grass Valley, California; two daughters, Ardyth Sizemore of Phoenix, Arizona and Annis (Dick) Allen of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; one brother, Eddie McKay of Othello, Washington; one sister, Lavaun Ricks of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Archie McKay was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arthur McKay; three sisters, Wilma McKay, Agnes Jacobson and Eva Jacobson and two great-grandchildren, Cherise McKay and Daniel Wayne McKay.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2001 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
