ARCHIE LURUS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Archie Lurus, 85, of Idaho Falls, died December 4, 2007, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.
He was born March 23, 1922, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to Limbrou and Vasilike Rodana Dagovanis. The family moved to Idaho when he was a young child. He attended Iona Elementary School and graduated from Iona High School. His father died and he was raised by his adopted father, Constantinos "Gus" Lurus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class.
He married Georgia Skandaly July 13, 1959, in Idaho Falls. He worked as a farmer all of his life.
He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Lion’s Club. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and sharing the meat with his neighbors and especially his grandchildren, Alexa and Jacob Pires.

Wife: Georgia Lurus, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Christine Lurus, Idaho Falls, ID
Brother: Dr. Angelo (Corrine) Lurus, Spokane, WA
Sister: Marina (Terry) Covert, Idaho Falls, ID
2 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, father, mother, brother, John, and sister, Victoria Koster.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Fr. Elias Koucos of the Salt Lake City Greek Orthodox Church officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team Idaho Honor Guard.

Georgia and Family, How well I remember the Lurus family and Archie. Only an alley separated us. They also kept us in food with their grocery store. Archie was such a hard worker and most capable. Both Margaret and I send our sympathy and love.
