Anthony Armstrong

Passed Away 10/27/2021

Anthony Armstrong

Born October 4, 1961, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Carol May (Cook) Armstrong and James Thelbern Armstrong.

Tony was an ambitious, creative, and witty man that enjoyed many wonderful experiences throughout his short 60 years. His favorite color was orange. He often had a pair of drum sticks with him when he drove, and he would thump on the steering wheel although he never played the drums. He was a master bowler, ice skater, and loved to roller blade and enjoyed seeing the beautiful mountains and wonderful neighbors from his front porch bench with Debra.

“We are so Blessed”

Tony graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1979 and played trumpet in the marching band.  While in school, he worked as a disc jockey at KUPI radio in Idaho Falls. He had a great love of music and enjoyed sharing it with the town.

Tony had a long history of work in television. He spent many summers traveling with the “Children’s Miracle Network” and had many friends and colleagues he stayed in touch with over the years. He worked at KUTV and Channel 5-KSL. He helped produce the Salt Lake Olympics working at Video West (KSL), the Widow Maker in 1988 (Wild World of Sports), covered Sundance Film Festivals and many other events. He also worked for TD Ameri-Trade for many years and was a Scrum Master.

Tony most recently worked for Zion’s Bank-corporation as a “Data Technician” and occasionally shared music from playlists on Friday mornings that he complied the day before in his home office.  A great way to start a workday and end the week for all his team members near and far.

On October 27, 2021, Tony took his fathers hand and then provided another family with a life changing event and donated his liver.  Tony had been blessed with two kidney transplants, the last of which he had for 22 years. He’d encourage friends and family to become donors and give the gift of life.

Tony leaves behind his wife, Debra Aldridge-Armstrong of Sandy, Utah; sisters: Judy (Larry) Rapoza of Sacramento, CA, Tamie Simkins of Pahrump, NV, and Tracy (Brady) Case of Longmont, CO;  proud father of daughter, Jessica LaRee Armstrong of West Valley, UT; son, Devin James (Cassie) Armstrong of Midvale, UT; step-daughter, Amanda Aldridge of Sandy, UT; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Thelbern Armstrong of Pahrump NV; his mother, Carol May Armstrong of Sacramento, CA; and brother-in-law, Terry (Fig) Simkins of Pahrump NV.

A Celebration of life for Tony and his parents, Ted and Carol Armstrong, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 11, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, Ammon Idaho. Graveside Dedication will be following at Taylor Cemetery.
