ANNA MAE JEFFERY
SANDY, UT -- Former Idaho Falls resident, Anna Mae Simonson Jeffery, passed away peacefully at the age of 98, on June 11, 2010, surrounded by her family, in Sandy, Utah.
Anna Mae was born May 3, 1912, in Wellsville, Utah, to Alma Oliver Simonson and Sarah Hutchison Simonson. She grew up in the small town of Central, Idaho, and later moved with her family to Grace, Idaho, where she finished her education.
In October of 1929 she moved to Idaho Falls, where she worked for Roger Brothers Seed Company, and later worked at the Challenge Creamery wrapping butter.
She met Ivo Jeffery in 1933 and they were married in June of 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho. They made their home in Idaho Falls with Ivo's father for four years. In 1939, they moved to 10th Street, where they resided for 55 years. Anna Mae continued to work during the depression; she worked for F. W. Woolworths, Bank of Idaho, and retired from Argonne National Laboratory as the Food Service Manager in 1977.
In September of 1990, Ivo died of natural causes. Anna Mae continued to live in their Idaho Falls home until 2004, when she moved to Utah to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mae enjoyed working in the Primary, Relief Society, and as a Visiting Teacher. She was a 50 year member of the Lily Rebecca's Lodge of Idaho Falls. She loved her garden and yard work, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and loved to cook and play bridge with new and old friends. Anna Mae adored her nine grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren. She was often the happiest when the grandchildren visited and the saddest when they left.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Whittaker of Sheridan, Montana, Judy Westergard of Kalispell, Montana, and Warren Jeffery of Sandy, Utah, a brother, Lowell Simonson of New Plymouth, Idaho, and a sister, Darlene Hansen of Bountiful, Utah. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Jeffery, who passed away in June, 1995.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the New Sweden Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge.
