Ann Murdock Thompson, 84, of Iona, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her home. She was under the care of her family and Hospice Alliance. Ann was born March 30, 1928, in Sugar City, Idaho, to Sterling Andrew Murdock and Lorena Ellsworth Murdock. She attended Bates Elementary School and graduated from Teton High School. She continued her education at Boise State University. On April 1, 1953, she married Darwin Ralph Thompson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Ann was a mother and a homemaker. She and Darwin raised five children. She lived in many parts of Idaho, including Sugar City, Bates, Ammon, and Iona. She and Darwin were residents of Salmon for 52 years, where she helped to pioneer a genealogy library. Ann was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a stake and ward Young Women’s President, in several Relief Society presidencies, and as a Seminary teacher. She also served as a missionary in the Texas Louisiana Mission. Ann enjoyed cake decorating, quilting, designing crossword puzzles, and picnicking with family. She was a great cook. Survivors include: Husband: Darwin Thompson of Iona, ID; Son: Rex (Lynne)Thompson of Ammon, ID; Daughter: Debra (Robert) Pontius of Beaumont, TX; Son: David (Stacey) Thompson of Centennial, CO; Son: Kent Thompson of Ammon, ID; Daughter: Sheila (Eric) Scoresby of Iona, ID; 22 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Lorin (Dorothy) Murdock of Paris, TX; and Sister: Donna (Lamar) Thompson of Victor, ID; Sister: Lorena (Richard) Whiting of Idaho Falls, ID; Sister: Marva (Philip) Condie of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Nash and Ruth Thompson; and three brothers, Sterling Murdock, Lyle Murdock, and Grant Murdock. Funeral Services for Ann will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Iona LDS 1st Ward Building, 5169 Denning Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery.

Saturday June 9, 2012 , 1:00 p.m. at Iona LDS First Ward

The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road) and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery.
