Ann Merrill

Ann Simmons Merrill, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 15, 2025, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of Alliance Home Health and Hospice.

Ann was born October 22, 1936, in Twin Falls, ID, to Morgan Ford Simmons and Mary Zina Haight Simmons. She grew up and attended schools in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School. She also attended BYU and Utah State University.

On September 15, 1956, she married Gaylord Merrill in Twin Falls, ID. Ann and Gaylord made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Ann helped run the family business, Gays Music & Vending.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many Relief Society positions and in Young Women. Ann was very kind, loving and giving to everyone around her. Family was extremely important. She loved all family gatherings and holidays and spoiling everyone she knew.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Lori Ann Looslie of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Kerri Jo Daniels of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Julie (Mike) Griggs of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Susan (Dean) Scheer-Shanklin; sister, Sue Vannoy of Logan, UT, sister, Gaylie (Earl) Swenson of Brigham City, UT; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Merrill; and parents, Morgan and Zina Simmons.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
