Click Here To View Memorial Video of Ann Ann Marie Rink Marmo, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of her family and Hands of Hope Hospice. She was born May 21, 1927, in Hornell, New York, to Frank J. Rink and Mary Burns Rink. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Hornell High School. In 1944, at the age of 17, she enlisted in the Cadet Nursing program of World War II and moved to Rochester, New York. In 1947, after receiving a registered nurse diploma, she accepted a scholarship to the University of Michigan and entered the field of Public Health. While a student at the university, she met her future husband, Joseph “Joe” Marmo, and they were married April 22, 1949, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They moved around the country with Joe’s job, and in 1963, settled permanently in Idaho Falls. Together they had 3 children, Joseph, Jane and Patrick. Ann worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and Riverview Hospital before Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center opened. She retired in 2007 after 60 years of nursing. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and enjoyed playing golf. Ann will be greatly missed by her extended family and those countless people she helped, as a dedicated nurse and more importantly as a friend. Survivors are: Husband: Joe Marmo, Idaho Falls, Idaho Son: Joe Marmo, Jr., Madras, Oregon Daughter: Jane (Brien) Whittington, Colorado Springs, Colorado Son: Patrick Marmo, Kennewick, Washington Brother: Robert J. (Eleanor) Rink, Hornell, New York Brother: Thomas L. (Martha) Rink, Arkport, New York Sister: Lucille (Joseph) Brown, Rochester, New York 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Calnan. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church (corner of 17th and Woodruff) with Father Raul Covarrubias, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name may be made to Hands of Hope Hospice, 1379 East 17th Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83404 or the American Cancer Society, 2676 Vista Avenue, Boise, ID 83705.
