Anita Fae Yorgason, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 10, 2015, in Avondale, Arizona. She was under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the Valley.
Anita was born January 31, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Leonard Morris Sturman and Mabel Goodman Sturman. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho and California and graduated from Oceanside High School. She earned her Associate's Degree at Mira Costa Community College, and she earned her Bachelor's Degree at Brigham Young University.
On June 25, 1982, she married Glen E. Yorgason in the Los Angeles, California, LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Leif, Shanna, Whitney, and Kara. Anita was a loving wife, mother, friend, and homemaker. She also worked for 20 years as a teacher at Tustin Unified School District in Tustin, California. They made their home in Southern California until 1998, when they came to Idaho Falls. Glen passed away January 17, 2010.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a temple worker, chorister, pianist, and music director in Primary. She also served in the Ward Relief Society and Young Women's presidencies. She was a member of the Grand Land Singers and a Cub Scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Anita enjoyed music, genealogy, cooking, baking, making award-winning pies, singing, interior decorating, playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends.
Anita fought a valiant battle with cancer in Arizona, but her heart was always firmly planted in Idaho. We know she’s overjoyed to be reunited with her beloved husband and being welcomed home into loving arms.
Anita is survived by her sister, Cydney Dixon of Paradise, CA;
son, Leif (Janet) Yorgason of Avondale, AZ;
daughter, Shanna Simpson of Avondale, AZ;
daughter, Whitney Yorgason of Avondale, AZ;
daughter, Kara (Matthew) Andrade of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Glenda Walker of Anaheim, CA;
daughter, Sherrie Nehrenberg of La Verne, CA;
and five grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Denny Sturman.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Todd Hillam of the Idaho Falls LDS Home Ranch Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
