Anita Mae Saunders Burke , 65, of Idaho Falls passed away June 24, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Anita was born May 28, 1945 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Joseph Edgar Saunders and Ida Hammond Saunders. She grew up on the family farm west of Moreland. She helped a lot on the farm and never complained, but got busy and got her share of the work done. In her spare time, her favorite thing to do was ride the family horse, Pinto. Anita attended schools at Moreland Elementary, Riverside Elementary, Snake River Jr. High, and graduated from Snake River High School. She enjoyed playing saxophone in the Junior and Senior High School bands. For four years, Anita took tap dance lessons with her three sisters at Stan’s Studio of Dance; she really enjoyed dancing and participating in recitals. She also took vocal lessons from Don Watts for two years. Anita worked at American Linen, then attended ISU Vo-Tech. While there she met Albert DaWayne Burke from Idaho Falls. They were married February 5, 1971 and made their home in Ucon, Idaho. They were blessed with four sons. Anita was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a visiting teacher and a primary worker. Anita will be remembered for her kindness and helpfulness to other people. During the several years she lived at Parkwood Meadows, she was appointed resident assistant and she felt really good when she could help the other ladies living there. Anita is survived by her husband DaWayne Burke, sons Thomas (Ellen Kent) Burke of Idaho Falls, Andrew (Katie) Burke of Idaho Falls, and Derrick (Stacey) Burke of Ucon and four grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Valine (Jack) Olney of Blackfoot, and two brothers, Kenneth (Karol) Saunders of Shelley and Lynn (Gail) Saunders of Blackfoot.
