AMOS 'BUD' TIETJEN AMMON, ID -- Amos Junior "Bud" Tietjen, 89, of Ammon, passed away July 3, 2009, at his home following lingering illnesses caused from strokes. Amos lived a full and happy life of hard work, love, and service. He was born March 13, 1920, in Bluewater, New Mexico, to Amos Tietjen and Barbara Lorena Cluff Tietjen. He attended Bluewater Elementary School, Grants High School in New Mexico and graduated from Mesa High School in Arizona. He served as a Technical Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War II. He served a full-time LDS mission to the Western States Mission. He married Beth Davenport June 14, 1944, in Mesa, Arizona. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple July 18, 1947. He worked as a Rackman and Mechanic for El Paso Natural Gas in Prewitt, New Mexico, and for Shell Oil in Gallup, New Mexico. In 1965 they made their home in Ammon, where he worked as a television and radio technician for El-Gene's in Rexburg and Merlin's TV in Idaho Falls. Bud was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a counselor in the Bishopric in New Mexico and as a Stake High Priest Financial Secretary in Idaho Falls. He served in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and received the Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed Ham Radio, electronics and mechanics. He was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wonderful wife of 65 years: Beth Davenport Tietjen of Ammon, ID Son: Ronald A. (Diane) Tietjen, Rexburg, ID Daughter: Kathy Loreen Tietjen (Allen Jr.) Payne, Rigby, ID Daughter: Relda Tietjen (Lonnie) Jacobson, Rigby, ID Son: Bill Ira (Cindy) Tietjen, Rexburg`, ID Son: Bruce (Jill) Tietjen, Ammon, ID Brother: Ernest Nelo Teitjen, Mesa, AZ Sister: Barbara (Anton) Richardson, Mesa, AZ Sister: Ruth (Bob) Lowery, Bluewater, NM Sister: Ora Amanda (Wally) Sabin, Mesa, AZ Sister: Iris (Francis) Bunker, Lions, CO 36 Grandchildren and 78 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one son-in-law, and two infant grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Ammon LDS First Ward, 3000 Central Avenue, with Bishop Jim Summers officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road and on Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Judy and Del Allsop Beth and family, Bud was a special person and a true fighter.
